Since both principals grew up in rural parts of Oregon and Nevada we are intimately aware of the challenges and struggles working in rural areas. Not only is it difficult to provide cost effective architectural design, it is also there is great difficulty in the logistics of finding builders, workers and materials in places where these are very limited or not at all available locally. PSWC has been the go-to architecture firm for the district since 1997 for design and construction administration of large and small projects throughout the district including providing master planning and ADA survey services district wide. NCSD is the third largest district in land area in the continental United States and is very sparsely populated. Many schools date back as far as 70 years or more and are still in use or maintained to this day. PSWC has completed hundreds of large and small projects for the district which have presented great challenges in finding contractors and suppliers willing to travel hundreds of miles from the nearest cities to bid and construct projects. Understanding this complexity and added costs was key to delivering successful projects within the district’s limited budgets.
